Signalization Engineer (Finance)

Your Role

  • Develop traffic signal design plans in accordance with FDOT standards and guidelines
  • Apply knowledge of local agency preferences (e.g., Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach Counties), recognizing that while FDOT leads design, the counties are often the maintaining authority
  • Prepare signal head layouts, wiring diagrams, cabinet details, detector placements, and fiber/communication routing
  • Utilize FDOT submittal procedures and tools to generate and review signalization plans
  • Use software such as OpenRoads Designer, FDOT Workstation Ribbon tools, GuideSIGN, and Synchro (or similar traffic analysis platforms)
  • Assist in reviewing the work of entry level staff or subconsultants for accuracy and compliance with FDOT standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working on FDOT signalization and/or ITS projects
  • Experience with FDOT design manuals, standards, and production workflows
  • Knowledge of county-specific signalization preferences and requirements in South Florida
  • Proficiency in ORD and FDOT-specific tools (e.g., FDOT Workstation Ribbon); experience with Synchro or other signal timing tools is a plus
  • PE license preferred but not required; EI certification required
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for project coordination and occasional site visits
