In this role you will work closely with business stakeholders, data scientists, and BI developers to turn raw data into trusted, actionable insight that drives operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

· Administer databases: Tune, secure, and monitor Microsoft SQL Server instances--including authoring complex T-SQL queries, functions, and stored procedures--to ensure high performance and data integrity.
· Leverage cloud services: Implement Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, and related services for scalable data orchestration, storage, and processing.
· Integrate ERP data: Build and maintain robust integrations with Microsoft Dynamics ERP (F&O/AX) and other manufacturing systems (MES, SCADA, historians).
· Enable BI & visualization: Partner with analysts to prepare datasets for Power BI, applying visualization best practices and ensuring semantic layer consistency.
· Ensure data quality & governance: Establish validation, monitoring, and documentation standards; champion data-driven culture and adoption of best practices across teams.
· Troubleshoot & optimize: Investigate performance bottlenecks, resolve data discrepancies, and continuously improve pipelines for speed, reliability, and cost.
· Collaborate & mentor: Share expertise with peers, lead code reviews, and contribute to team standards and technical roadmaps.

Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
· 7+ years of professional data engineering experience, preferably supporting manufacturing or industrial environments.
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL (query tuning, indexing strategies, partitioning, SSIS/SSRS familiarity).
· Hands-on experience architecting and operating data solutions in Azure (Data Factory, Synapse, SQL Database, ADLS Gen 2, Databricks, etc.).
· Strong Python development skills for data processing, automation, and orchestration tasks (Pandas, PySpark, etc.).
· Deep understanding of data integration patterns, CDC, batch vs. streaming, and associated tooling.
· Proven ability to analyze complex datasets, trace root causes, and deliver resilient solutions under tight deadlines.
· Experience integrating and modeling data from Microsoft Dynamics 365 / AX / NAV or other ERP systems.
· Familiarity with manufacturing domain data sources (PLC historians, MES, quality, supply-chain).
· Power BI report development and DAX optimization skills.
· Exposure to DevOps practices: CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps/GitHub), Infrastructure-as-Code (Bicep/Terraform).
· Knowledge of data governance frameworks (Purview, data cataloging, lineage).
· Excellent communication--able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
· Collaborative mindset and willingness to mentor junior engineers.
· Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and best practices.
· Data governance leadership.
· RPA experience.
