Maintenance - Dot Driver (2025) (Finance)



Summary

The DOT Driver position performs a variety of routine and complex transportation support work in driving and coordinating transportation plans. The DOT Driver offers logistical support in the Aero-Flite mission to ensure aircraft flight and maintenance operations are maintained and the company is able to meet the customer need. This is a full-time position based at Spokane, WA hangar when not dispatched to the field.

Driver

  • Perform a variety of duties in the support of the aircraft fleet, ensuring truck and trailer arrive at the specified destination within the required time.
  • Maintain trucks and trailers by coordinating and/or performing routine inspections, scheduled preventative maintenance. Refer complex defects or repairs to DOT Coordinator/Lead GSE for correction; ensure truck and trailer are clean and presentable.
  • Follow elog book requirements for logging hours worked and hours driven per day.
  • Follow all FMCSA, DOT, applicable state and Aero-Flite regulations and safety rules.
  • Ensure company property, trucks and trailers are properly secured to prevent theft or damage.
  • Remain available until aircraft and maintenance support duties are completed for the day.
  • Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

General Hangar
  • Runner pick up/drop off equipment, parts, supplies for efficient operation of the hangars.
  • General hangar cleaning; sweep, mop, Zamboni
  • General maintenance (as ability dictates)
    • Trailer repair, refurbishment
    • Wheel, bearing maintenance, replacement
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to back a trailer.

Education and Experience

Required Education and Experience

  • High school or equivalent graduate.
  • Minimum of three years' related experience.
  • Acceptable MVR to insurance carrier and age 21.
  • Ability to obtain DOT Medical Certificate

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Class A CDL is an asset but is not required.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually at a typical warehouse noise while in the hangar with frequent periods of moderately loud periods, or moderately loud when in the field.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Regular exposure to a hangar environment with walking/traversing hazards, uneven surfaces and stairs.

Job Abilities:

Move, traverse - Must be able to move about inside office, hangar and external locations with frequent trip/fall and overhead hazards.

Ascend/Descend, Work atop, Traverse, Balance - Occasionally ascends/descends ladders, work stands, and man lifts while managing equilibrium traversing varied terrain and work sites.

Position self (to), Move - Constantly positions self to perform visual inspections of equipment.

Communicate, Detect, Converse with, Discern, Convey, Express oneself, Exchange information - Must be able to frequently communicate accurate information and a level of assertiveness to stop unsafe activities when recognized.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work will vary by business need and customer requirements. Schedule will consist of extensive travel in the field and time at homebase hangar for support activities when not dispatched to the field.

The base pay range for this position in Washington state is $20-22 per hour. T he hourly rate is influenced by a variety of factors including, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, and geographical locations.
