Communications Manager for Social Media - Bauer Office of Communications (Finance)

Description:

Manages communications activities to promote the advancement of a major university program or center through the planning and coordination of its publications and media relations.

1. Designs and coordinates publications for the program, including brochures, newsletters, annual reports and other marketing and promotional materials.
2. Manages the design and update of program web sites.
3. Coordinates the procurement and management of graphic design, printing and other publication-related services.
4. Writes and disseminates news and press releases for the program.
5. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with external media organizations, as well as the university's media relations department.
6. Manages advertising, marketing and publications for promotional events and other special programs.
7. Participates in the strategic planning process related to marketing and promotion of the program.
8. Writes and edits articles, speeches, and other communication projects as assigned.
9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Description:
This position works in the Office of Communications at the C. T. Bauer College of Business. This position is responsible for developing and executing posting calendars for college social media, including the college's main accounts on Instagram, X, Facebook and LinkedIn as well as accounts for Bauer Graduate & Professional Programs on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn. This position will also serve as one of the administrators of these accounts, with daily responsibility for making scheduled posts, responding to comments, engaging with followers and answering DMs, in addition to researching social media trends and strategies to enhance the college's social media presence. This position will be part of the team's Social Media Work Group, responsible for scheduling meetings, developing meeting agendas, taking notes and following up on discussions during the bi-monthly planning meetings.

The Office of Communications is an integrated team responsible for sharing the Bauer College story and leading both internal and external communication and marketing, promoting activities of faculty, staff and students, while keeping donors, alumni, prospective students, media and the community up to date on the college.

Successful candidates will have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, work well under pressure, consistently meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects while remaining flexible and positive. This will require exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. We are looking for candidates with significant experience managing social media accounts, crafting social media content and engaging with stakeholders online. Further, successful candidates will effectively communicate with all levels of management and fellow employees and be able to manage multiple employer relationships.

Position includes the following responsibilities but not limited to:
1. Under the strategic direction of the Executive Director of Communications and guidance from the Director of Communications and Digital Media Program Manager, manage Bauer social media accounts, including lineup development, daily posting and engagement, planning campaigns/seasonal content and giveaways, and leading Social Media Work Group meetings and follow-up.
2. Coordinates content for Office of Communications projects, focusing on social media as well as digital media, web development, graphic design, editorial, media relations, advertising and marketing initiatives.
3. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with college stakeholders (faculty, staff, students, alumni) as well as UH social media.
4. Analyzes Bauer social media analytics to provide recurring reports and summaries for Office of Communications leadership on post performance.
5. Researches social media trends and strategies to enhance Bauer social media presence.
6. Collaborates with Office of Communications team members, including Executive Director, Director, Digital Media Program Manager, Graphic Designer, web developers, writers, Multimedia Specialist and Photographer/Videographer.

Preferences:
• Experience serving as administrator for a social media account, preferably in a communications/marketing role.
• Higher education experience.
• Experience working in a creative team or with creative professionals.

Qualifications:
• Education will be considered in lieu of experience.
• Experience will be considered in lieu of education.

MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.
