Job Title: Research Support Specialist - Temporary

Hiring Salary: $18.00 -$20.00 hourly

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will work up to 30 hours a week in the Multiple Sclerosis division of the department of Neurology. Duties include research data collection for the medical grant project, data analysis, conducting research, preparing statistical reports and spreadsheets, preparing correspondence, reports and presentations, handling information requests, planning conferences and meetings, providing purchasing, making travel arrangements, and maintaining calendars and schedules.MINIMUM:

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience in office or administrative support or in research support. College education may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis.

PREFERRED:

Bachelor's degree and four or more years of related research experience.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.

The temporary Research Support Specialist will perform a wide variety of administrative support duties. This position will participate in specialty clinic; help coordinate with clinic staff and physicians to evaluate patients that might be considered for research studies. Collect analyzes, and performs quality assurance of study data. Monitors overall clinical study to ensure that quality control measures are in compliance with protocol. Actively participates in research study meetings to discuss progress/status of study. Ensures consistent interpretation and adherence to protocols at all stages of trials by team members.

Evaluates potential research participants with Principal Investigator; schedules screening evaluations; explains consent process, performs required screening evaluations; randomizes participants into appropriate research study. Coordinates and schedules study visit and follow ups. Records data on each study participant for each visit according to research protocol, maintaining complete study progress notes and case report form for each visit. Reports any Adverse Event according to protocol.

Communicates questions, problems, changes, to the Assistant Director and or PI. Prepares and submits protocol applications, amendments, annual review, adverse event reports and study sponsor communication to IRB as required.

Data entry for clinical trials, proofing for data entry errors, and preparing patient/participant documents for study visits, which includes development of source documents as needed. Assist with monitoring visits and attend Investigator Meetings as requested by Director. Develop materials to communicate project/trials to potential clients and their families and assist with the promotional materials supplied by the sponsors. Conduct patient visits and testing, including preparation of lab shipments and obtaining required information from subjects during patient visits.

Aids clinical staff in addressing continued patient care (calls to discuss AEs, medication questions, etc.) Assists ordering the site inventory of supplies for the division (lab kits, premedication, patient specific supplies and office supplies).
