Position Overview

Your primary responsibility is to coordinate block plant manufacturing activities during assigned shift. Operate block plant and yard equipment alongside block plant tenders. You must foster teamwork, positive work environment and overall safety of yourself and others.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Execute the plant management's daily shift production plans.
  • Assign plant block plant tenders to specific jobs tasks to ensure shift production plan and plant targets are achieved.
  • Coordinate and adjust work methods to meet work schedules and production targets.
  • Hold daily job and safety briefings for shift crew.
  • Set up, operate, adjust and troubleshoot block plant and yard equipment, including: block plant casting, batching, cubing, transfer systems, forklift and wheel loader.
  • Review work areas and check tools and equipment for defects and safety concerns.
  • Various administrative duties include safety training, inspections, reports, etc.
  • Demonstrate equipment and work methods for new employees.
  • Order block plant supplies and equipment.
  • Must be able to effective lead others.
  • Properly follows & promotes all company policies and OSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
  • Must be able to maintain an acceptable attendance record in a flexible work schedule.
  • Must maintain at all times a strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures.
  • May perform other related duties as required or directed.
  • Must be available to travel and work from other company facilities as needed.
  • Must possess a professional attitude while interacting with peers, contractors and general public.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty to Preferred Materials Inc. guidelines.

Education/Experience

  • Two years of related industry experience preferred.
  • Mechanical inclination is required.

Work Requirements

  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, criminal background check and driving record review.
  • Must be willing to work flexible schedule including: nights, weekends and holidays when necessary.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in The United States.
  • Must be able to drive a manual & automatic transmission.
  • Must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety.
  • Regular and timely attendance is required.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to use hand & power tools.
  • Ability to weld, chip and use cutting torch.
