Engineering Technician (Engineering)



The Engineering Technician, is an entry-level position responsible for general maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, meeting space, restaurant, pool and common areas. This includes guest rooms and public areas of the Legacy Hotel.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the hotel's facilities and equipment to ensure a safe, functional and comfortable environment for guests and team members.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders.
  • Perform some repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, kitchen and minor laundry equipment.
  • Maintain the hotel pool and surrounding area, performs minor painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, HVAC functions and other related maintenance activities using hand tools.
  • Maintain the grounds of the hotel performing any combination of tasks.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as inspecting drives, motors, belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
  • Notify management concerning the need for repairs or additions to systems and equipment.
  • Work closely with Housekeeping and Guest Services to ensure the highest degree of guest satisfaction
  • Answer guest inquiries pertaining to hotel services, registration of guests and local area information.
  • Handles guest challenges in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Maintain records of all rooms and equipment that have been worked on.
  • Establish and maintain good communications and teamwork with fellow employees and departments within the hotel.

  • Maintain confidentiality of guest and proprietary information, protecting company assets.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by management.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Previous experience in hotel maintenance or commercial building
  • General knowledge of building systems, safety standards, and preventative maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Opera or other hotel PMS system is a plus
  • Basic IT abilities are a plus
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity while in stressful, high-pressure situations.
  • Must have a positive attitude and have a team mindset.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to lift, carry, move, push and pull equipment or boxes up to 60lbs
  • Ability to stand and walk for duration of shift
  • Ability to work on various indoor and outdoor surfaces including grass, turf, courts, etc. in all weather
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill engineering tasks.
  • Must be able to climb stairs on a continuous basis.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
  • Must be able to operate office equipment such as computers
  • Ability to work days, nights, weekends and holidays as needed
