Mortgage Collections Specialist (Finance)

Role Summary

Third Federal is seeking candidates for a Mortgage Collections Specialist in its Default Servicing Department. The Default Department's focus is to keep our borrowers in their homes. In this role, the Mortgage Collections Specialist will be responsible for managing a call queue for delinquent loans while providing excellent Customer Service. We are looking for a high-energy professional with recent experience in mortgage loan collections. This is a full-time, non-commission based position at our Corporate Campus with the ability to work hybrid after training and proficiency.   

 

Responsibilities

  • Making outbound and receiving inbound collection calls
  • Processing telephone payments
  • Uncovering reasons for delinquency and counseling our borrowers towards reinstatement
  • Setting up Promises to Pay and Verbal Payment Plans
  • Collaborate in a team environment within Default Servicing and other areas of Third Federal; including Loan Services, Deposit Operations and Customer Care.

 

Requirements

  • Experience with mortgage loans or other financial products
  • Experience working in an office setting and basic computer and Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal/customer service skills; including the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both internal and external customers
  • Ability to interact and build relationships with Customers
  • Strong time management and follow-up skills
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment

 

Preferred Experience

  • Recent experience in mortgage loan collections - collecting from first day of delinquency through resolution
    • Including multi-state collections on equity loans and lines of credit
  • Working knowledge of Fannie Mae servicing and collections guidelines
  • Loss Mitigation experience
  • Experience with Collections Queue software
