*Senior Cloud Systems Analyst (Project Management)



The University of Oklahoma Libraries seeks to recruit a Senior Cloud Systems Analyst. Working in the University Libraries' Cloud Infrastructure & Development (CID) team, the Senior Cloud Systems Analyst reports to the CID Technical Manager. As a member of this team, you will apply a modern DevOps approach to the continuous improvement of operational practices, system reliability, and cost-effectiveness of a diverse portfolio of platforms and services supporting the library's role as the intellectual crossroads of the university. 

This position is responsible for the planning and engineering of the Libraries' cloud computing infrastructure and applications. Additionally, the position supports other key infrastructure, collaborating with colleagues across disciplines and organizational boundaries to plan, build, and operate components of the OU Libraries technology strategy.

The employment package for this position may include the ability to work remotely.  

Primary responsibilities may include:

  • Responsible for planning and engineering the University's cloud computing infrastructure and applications. Monitors the performance of the system.
  • Provides support for the Cloud IT infrastructure. Ensures proper operation, monitoring, alerting and notification, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and backups of the environment.
  • Designs business processes and workflow strategies for management, access, and retrieval of data. Designs and implements secure and cost-effective business solutions.
  • Develops, deploys, maintains supports, and optimizes a cloud environment for critical business applications, infrastructure servers, active directory, and utility servers.
  • Identifies technology innovation and improved security for digital, data, and cybersecurity teams.
  • Uses tools to identify troublesome areas as they develop on systems and network connections. Analyzes trends and develops plans to solve problems and prevent recurrence.
  • Defines data rules, relationships, and methods of quality control of databases or database management.
  • Documents infrastructure, platform processes, and existing operational procedures.
  • Reviews, analyzes, streamline, and documents business processes.
  • Produces technical documentation as it pertains to new processes, measurable results in software/technology consulting and cloud environments.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Education and Experience:  Bachelor's degree, AND: 

  • 36 months as a Cloud Systems Analyst or related experience

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 84 months experience.

Skills:

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills with both team members and external stakeholders, including the ability to effectively communicate with end-users at varying technological skill levels.
  • Experience working in an agile environment and ability to adjust schedules and design goals to accommodate deadlines and busy periods.
  • Ability to develop and integrate complex information systems based on multiple software applications. 
  • Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures of cloud technology including Software as Service (SaaS), Platform as Service (PaaS), or infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
  • Knowledge of private, public and hybrid cloud architecture.
  • Knowledge of scripting.
  • Knowledge of integrating RESTful APIs across multiple technologies.
  • Knowledge of continuous integration and delivery.
  • Ability to recognize and pursue opportunities to improve processes and services.

Certifications:

  • None

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to use a computer daily.

Departmental Preferences:

  • Familiarity with current and arising libraries, online research, and/or learning support technologies.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration-as-code practices using Ansible, Terraform, shell scripts, and other tools.
  • Proficiency in data collection and reporting.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and notification platforms
  • Experience applying DevOps principles to build and manage reliable, maintainable systems using cloud-based infrastructure. 
  • Programming experience with at least one high-level language (Python, PHP, etc).

  • No supervisory duties
