The Warehouse Lead assists with leading, directing, and supervising warehouse and delivery operations. This includes assisting with supervising the performance of driver(s) and warehouse personnel while implementing and enforcing processes to maintain timely and accurate material receipts, product shipments, and material deliveries. The Warehouse Lead must also actively help improve inventory accuracy through rigorous inventory control processes and regular cycle counts. The Warehouse Lead is the secondary contact for enforcing safe work practices for the shipping/receiving and warehouse areas.

Essential Functions

  • Helps monitor material flow through warehouse, including receiving, shipping and storage, assuring accuracy and efficiency at all points
  • Assists with supervising all warehouse personnel and drivers
  • Coordinates and assigns workload(s) to individual warehouse associates and driver(s)
  • Coordinates deliveries with shipping department
  • Responsible for monitoring DOT requirements and compliance
  • Helps monitors equipment maintenance, including vehicles, ensuring preventative maintenance is always current and equipment is in good working order
  • Responsible for shipping & receiving paperwork and computer processes
  • Communicates with management as well as suppliers, via email or phone conversations, in a clear and professional manner
  • Assist with performance appraisals and coaching
  • Participate in physical inventories
  • Keep accurate attendance records and maintain a productive work environment
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy, efficiency and safety while ensuring quality standards by way of in-process inspections
  • Other relative duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, or an equivalent combination of education/experience
  • 3 to 5 years of experience with the commercial door and hardware industry, required
  • Current and valid US driver's license preferred
  • At least 1 year prior experience in a fast paced production/manufacturing environment preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Previous experience within a warehouse
  • Effective time management and organization skills
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Ability to read, write, and speak Basic English in order to communicate effectively with suppliers
  • Ability to work independently, efficiently and meet deadlines

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand and walk for much of the day. Spends more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands and reaching. Spends approximately 1/3 of time walking and talking/hearing. Frequent lifting required of items 25-50 pounds.

Work Environment

Other conditions may include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware. Worker is subject to frequent heavy lifting.
