Digital Product Owner, MyIllumina (Finance)

Position Summary

The Lead Product Owner/ Manager is responsible for driving the strategy and execution of new capabilities and enhancements of our online digital customer platform, MyIllumina. This role is responsible and accountable for the product backlog and negotiating priorities, setting product vision and goals, and working directly with stakeholders.

This candidate will partner with other business product owners and stakeholders to translate product strategy and problem solving into a detailed, prioritized backlog of user stories. Additionally, this role will collaborate with the delivery team(s) to implement, measure, and learn from the improvements they have made. The Product Owner manages execution of the features and delivery roadmap for business requirements aligned to KPIs that measure the objectives of internal and external member facing capabilities within MyIllumina. This critical role will be instrumental in ensuring that stakeholder teams and delivery teams are aligned to support the growth and expansion of MyIllumina.

Position Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and managing business KPIs that role up to the overall strategy of the eBusiness team.
  • Defining requirements, guiding teams to deliver project goals, and defining the ongoing roadmap.
  • Sets product vision, goals and roadmap for future feature development.
  • Drives the requirements and vision for the customer/product/capability experience in conjunction with other cross functional business and delivery teams.
  • Development of user stories.
  • Manages, grooms & prioritizes the product backlog.
  • Demonstrates product expertise and industry/competitor offerings.
  • Accountable for Scrum Team Deliverables; monitors ceremonial scrum activities for value and identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Pressure tests iteration plans & scope.
  • Performs product reviews and demos, in collaboration with delivery teams, to core stakeholders to capture and action feedback and input.
  • Ensures implementations meet all Legal, Risk and Compliance requirements.
  • Communicates, collaborates and negotiates with key stakeholders including cross functional team leadership and business groups.
  • Monitors and measures progress on User Story delivery.
  • Lead the development and execution of complex digital business plans, programs and initiatives which have impact across the organization.
  • Act as key participant in large-scale planning of enterprise wide projects.
  • Review and analyze complex digital strategy for product/functionality/experience area.
  • Influence digital strategy for the business which requiring in-depth evaluation of voice of customer and field.
  • Make decisions in digital strategy for product/functionality/experience area requiring strong understanding of the business, policies, procedures and/or compliance requirements.
  • Strategically collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and mid-level to senior managers to resolve issues and achieve goals.
  • Drives innovation & results through test & learn.
  • Potentially lead projects, teams or serve as a peer mentor.
  • Maintain and strengthen business relationship with internal and external customers through regular contact.

Position Requirements

  • 8+ years' experience in a global digital product management/ownership with demonstrated improvements in process, revenue, and conversion; experience in diagnostics, life sciences, or medical devices is preferred.
  • Experienced working within the agile-development methodology.
  • Excellent understanding of Infrastructure and microservices based architecture and web applications
  • Proven ability to develop business relationships and communicate successfully with people at all levels of management; exhibit excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills.
  • Proficient with managing program/project level initiatives.
  • Financial acumen and business savvy with understanding of business model levers and ability to strategically execute on growth plans.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to influence people, process and technology in a manner that enriches Illumina's company culture and overall team performance.
  • Must be organized and able to multi-task and re-prioritize as direction and goals shift, ability to drive team collaboration as well as work independently, driven by deadlines and high expectations both creatively and consistently.
  • Must be a consummate team player, putting others before self, and actively engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Must be customer focused, both internal and external to the Company

Preferred Experience/Education/Skills

  • Typically has 12+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • May require an advanced degree (Master's) with 8 years of related experience; a Ph.D. with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Broad knowledge of all areas within eCommerce (including B2B/eProcurement)
  • Typically has a depth of eCommerce or customer platform knowledge in function derived from experience in non-management and middle management roles.

The estimated base salary range for the Digital Product Owner, MyIllumina role based in the United States of America is: $138,800 - $208,200. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
