Asset Manager, ERCOT (Finance)

Key Accountabilities

  • Develops, builds, and maintains all Real Time desk tools
  • Develops and maintains all  Real Time Procedures to ensure compliance with ERCOT and NERC rules
  • Act as a point of contact for ERCOT Asset Management with other groups and the plants.
  • Support and review annual budgeting for gross margin by using knowledge of the assets, ERCOT and applicable markets.
  • Understand drivers of net margin and cash flow and work with other groups to maximize the long term value of the ERCOT fleet.
  • Communicate necessary information regarding gross margin to traders to support commercial decisions.
  • Follow and provide SME input to Regulatory on changes to ERCOT Market Rules
  • Provide analysis of generation and hedge positions.
  • Understand the settlement process and ensure that all financial data is accurately reflected in systems.
  • Work with Operations, Commercial Analytics and Risk to ensure that accurate plant parameters are reflected in DSO.
  • Support ERCOT Operations in providing commercial analysis and maintaining commercial support.
  • Act as a point of contact  with ERCOT
  • Provide ad hoc commercial support and analysis when needed.

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in Commercial Asset Management, Trading, or Market Analytics.
  • Highly proficient in full complement of Microsoft Office products like Word and PowerPoint, and most importantly Excel (experienced in the creation and use of complex Excel-based models).
  • The applicant should also be familiar with Commercial Business Model (CBM), Adapt2, and Endur
  • Must be able to work in an active, fast-paced, and open environment that is frequently noisy.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Knowledgeable of power and fuel markets
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to guide and influence diverse project teams.
  • Strong self-starter and taker of initiative with a demonstrable history of focused/timely successful completion/execution of key deliverables
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (both oral and written) skills.
  • Ability to work productively and constructively in a collaborative team environment.
  • General understanding of power plant operations, both coal and gas-fired plants.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills
