Quality Inspector (R&D)
Job Summary: The Quality Inspector at Sun Test Systems is responsible for ensuring that all incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products meet established quality standards and specifications. This role involves performing detailed inspections, interpreting blueprints and technical documents, measuring product dimensions, and documenting inspection results. The Quality Inspector plays a key role in identifying defects, recommending process improvements, and collaborating with production teams to enhance overall product quality. This position also supports internal audits and contributes to ongoing quality assurance initiatives to uphold company and customer expectations.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Perform regular quality assessments on all incoming materials from vendors and outgoing products for shipping.Reject all products and materials that fail to meet quality expectations.Read and interpret blueprints & work instructions, plans, and specifications to understand the requirements of products and services.Measure product dimensions, examine functionality, and compare the final product to the specifications.Recommend improvements to the production process to ensure quality control.Document inspection outcomes by completing detailed reports and performance records.Teach the production team about quality control concerns to improve product excellence.Supervise the production process.Resolve quality-related issues in a timely manner.Perform internal audits.Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Must be a U.S. citizen or legal ability to work in the US and meet any other federal program requirements.Experience with quality control techniques such as Six Sigma.Experience with measuring devices such as meters, gauges, computers, calipers, and other measuring instruments.Experience with operating a forklift.Experience in US Army Quality functions.
Required Education and Experience:
At least 4 years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination.Experience in engineering sectors with the federal government or DoD preferred.
