Integrated Design and Advisory is one of three business verticals at Michael Baker International with more than 850 professionals located across the country. DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker International is seeking a dynamic and motivated Senior Aviation Architect with a focus on aviation to lead strategic growth within our expanding Integrated Design and Advisory team across Florida and the Southeast. This role builds on recent successes in the aviation market and is key to driving continued development, execution, and excellence in our projects across regional and national aviation and aerospace sectors.

As a champion of the seller-doer model, the Senior Architect will cultivate local and regional business opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and support established markets including federal/DoD, aviation, and transportation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Actively engage in robust, consistent communication with key existing clients/programs to determine needs, preferences, and future program opportunities.
  • Create and manage near and long-term goals for programs in which the candidate is engaged.
  • Routinely assess our program strengths and identify areas for improvement. Continually monitor program risks and strive to address and mitigate.
  • Develop/implement project work plans/methodologies for complex projects, as applicable. Lead projects/task orders for programs in which the candidate is engaged.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of multi-disciplinary teams to ensure project progression per schedule, on budget, and within scope parameters.
  • Coordinate throughout the IDA Vertical, leveraging the strength and diverse array of talents of our organization to effectively meet our client's needs.
  • Lead and manage programs to ensure projects are delivered with excellence and quality to Client and Michael Baker standards.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Commercial aviation A/E experience is required, specifically with Florida and southeast region clients. Strategizes and leads dynamic, multi-disciplinary staff in the pursuit and execution of aviation-focused projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of the business of aviation-specific architecture with demonstrated experience leading, directing and managing people and projects.
  • Aviation Architecture/ Program Management qualifications include:
    • Demonstrated terminal and support facility design and project management experience for large, medium, or small hub airports.
    • Thorough understanding of airline operations, TSA checkpoint and security operations, baggage handling systems, and landside/airside facility requirements.
    • Experience developing efficient movement of passengers between ticket counters, queuing areas, baggage claim, arrival/departure roadway systems, and other terminal operations.
  • Experience with aviation-specific business development is essential, including market research and developing responses to requests for proposals, as well as oversight of written and graphic marketing materials.
  • Demonstrated business development/marketing experience as a "Seller-Doer" including proposal management and technical response proposals (SF330, Design/Build, etc.).
  • Proficient experience and understanding of interdisciplinary relationships between technical resources, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Facilitates inter-office/inter-disciplinary collaboration, communication, and cooperation.
  • Provides constructive feedback to support individual and team development.
  • Encourages uniformly high design and production standards and monitors projects to ensure that quality and production standards are met for all design and contract documents.
  • Build rapport and establish positive relationships with existing and prospective clients to ensure client-focused performance.
  • Actively participates with professional and community-focused organizations to grow relationships and introduce/educate potential clients towards the Architecture/Building Engineering Practice at Michael Baker International.
  • Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) [Autodesk Revit Architecture/AutoCAD], technical specifications software, as well as applicable building codes, and application project implementation.
  • Possess excellent computer skills with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Adobe, and Bluebeam.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to articulate ideas, both verbally and in writing; Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships, both externally and internally; highly precise, detailed, and self-organized; Communicates clearly and respectfully in professional settings
  • Specific experience with Design/Build and other alternate project delivery methods is highly preferred.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • BS/BA Architecture; Bachelor of Architecture; or MS/MA Architecture (4-6 Year Degree), with active licensure as a Registered Architect (RA) in the State of Florida. NCARB certification is preferred.
  • Strong leadership with a minimum of 10 years of aviation-experience in the design, documentation, and management of multi-disciplinary architecture/building engineering projects and staff resources beyond initial licensure.
  • Minimum of 12 years of overall Architecture experience required
  • LEED Accredited Professional (AP), or equivalent, preferred.
  • Travel (25%+/-) is anticipated based on program/project responsibilities.
  • US Citizenship Required

COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for this position is $119,000 to $207,000 annually. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.

As an integral component of our multi-disciplinary Architecture/Engineering Practice, Michael Baker International is looking for a Project Architect who is enthusiastic and motivated to be part of ongoing and future Federal Projects. Responsibilities will include design and documentation for ongoing Federal and Department of Defense projects, along with market-driven diversification including Healthcare, Commercial, Aviation, and Transit opportunities. The Project Architect will work in multi-disciplinary, collaborative design teams with architects, interior designers, site/civil engineers, and building systems engineers.
