Payroll Specialist (Finance)



Position Summary

To serve our internal customers by ensuring that all payments ( e.g. paychecks, payroll accrual, general ledger entry, contributions reports, child support and garnishment payments and reports) are processed and paid according to established company and governmental standards. Focuses on maintaining a positive relationship with the business and other HR Team members and contribute to G&J Pepsi as being the premier Employer of Choice.

Essential Functions

  • Process weekly payroll for 2000+ hourly and salary employees accurately and timely across multiple non-union and union locations.
  • Administer child support and credit garnishment withholding orders according to agency and governmental standards.
  • Analyze payroll and employee HRIS data to ensure compliance with union contracts, federal, state and local laws
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in payroll records through analysis of HRIS data, payroll reports, and timesheets.
  • Generate and analyze payroll reports to identify pay policy interruptions, trends, anomalies and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure data integrity between HRIS modules.
  • Ensures organizational compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws.
  • Provide support to internal and external information and data share request timely and accurately.
  • Stay updated with changes in payroll laws and regulations.
  • Maintains confidentiality of payroll records, wage and bonus information, garnishments, accounting records, and other sensitive and/or confidential information.
  • Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works outside of normal schedule to meet workload demands.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Education

2 Year / Associate Degree in Human Resources Management, Accounting, Finance or Business or equivalent work experience required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Human Resources Management preferred

Experience

  • 3 - 5 years of pa yroll administration experience required .
  • Union payroll experience is a plus.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite including Access and pivot tables.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based payroll software (e.g. ADP, Paychex, Paylocity, Workday).
  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations and compliance.

Certifications & Licenses

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation strongly preferred.

Other Requirements

  • Proven experience as a payroll specialist or in a similar role.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
