Paper Machine Operator

As a Paper Machine Operator you will start your career learning the skills of the large Paper Machine process as part of a team of skilled operators.

What You Will Do

* Work within Essity safety standards to support the efficient operation of the paper manufacturing process.

* Watch the process and if necessary perform routine maintenance, housekeeping, and resupply of materials necessary for roll prep and shipping.

* Deliver finished rolls of paper to awaiting trailers, load trailers, and enter necessary roll weight data into integrated materials management system.

* Support Essity Continuous Improvement Systems.

* Consult with Team Leader or skilled operators if required.

* Order and prepare raw materials or products for palletizing and install them on the machine according to Standard Operating Procedures.

* Maintain an adequate communication with previous and next shift as well as with other persons involved in running the machine.

* Maintain an optimal housekeeping situation.

* Support others in operating activities Secure the quality level of the products by regular checking against the product specification rejecting or blocking if necessary

* Complete all required documentation and data files during production

Who You Are

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Due to the nature of this role individuals are required by state law to be 18 years of age or older to be considered
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
  • Previous manufacturing experience - preferred
  • This position will work a minimum 12 hour rotating shift schedule, alternating between day shift and night shift at 2 week intervals. Ability to work a rotating or "swing shift" schedule is mandatory.
  • Operators are responsible for continuously monitoring and maintaining quality based on established standards by visual and mechanical inspection of product, as well as working in a safe manner at all times..
  • Must be able to stand on concrete floors 12 hours per day.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, reach, and twist in order to carry out the essential functions of this position.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull 40-50 pounds.
  • Must be able to safely move materials utilizing proper equipment which may include a forklift, crane, or hoist.
  • Must be familiar with various hand tools and be able to read a tape measure down to the sixteenth of an inch.
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must possess a high degree of attention to detail and be able to work in a fast paced, high quality manufacturing environment. Must be ready to work in a challenging environment, may be subjected to swings in temperature as manufacturing areas are not air conditioned.

Competitive benefits package, 1.5x Rate Pay for any hours over 40 in a week.
